Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CivicNaija and how it works.
CivicNaija is a transparent platform designed to empower Nigerians to report, track, and advocate for the resolution of public infrastructure and social issues affecting their communities at the Ward, Local Government Area (LGA), and State levels.
To report an issue, simply create a free account, log in, and click on the "Report Issue" button. You will be prompted to provide details such as a descriptive title, the specific location (Ward and State), category, and an explanation of the problem. You can also upload photos to provide visual evidence.
Once you submit a report, it enters a "Pending Moderation" queue. Our administrative team reviews it to ensure it meets community guidelines and contains valid information. Once approved, the status changes to "Verified" and it becomes publicly visible on the platform for others to view and support.
If you find an issue that affects you or your community, you can endorse it by clicking the "Support" button on the issue's detail page. Issues with high community support gain more visibility and are more likely to attract the attention of relevant authorities and NGOs.
No, CivicNaija does not physically repair infrastructure or resolve the issues directly. We act as a digital bridge between citizens and stakeholders. By providing structured, verifiable data and demonstrating public demand, we give local authorities, community leaders, and civil society organisations the visibility they need to take action.
We take your privacy seriously. While your chosen username will be attached to the reports you create to ensure accountability, your sensitive personal information, such as your email address remains completely private and is never shared with the public.
